Summary

Who is Mrs。 March?

George March’s latest novel is a smash。 No one could be prouder than his dutiful wife, Mrs。 March, who revels in his accolades。 A careful creature of routine and decorum, she lives a precariously controlled existence on the Upper East Side until one morning, when the shopkeeper of her favorite patisserie suggests that her husband’s latest protagonist—a detestable character named Johanna—is based on Mrs。 March herself。 Clutching her ostrich leather pocketbook and mint-colored gloves, she flees the shop。 What could have merited this humiliation?

That one casual remark robs Mrs。 March of the belief that she knew everything about her husband—and herself—thus sending her on an increasingly paranoid journey that begins within the pages of a book。 While snooping in George’s office, Mrs。 March finds a newspaper clipping about a missing woman。 Did George have anything to do with her disappearance? He’s been going on a lot of “hunting trips” up north with his editor lately, leaving Mrs。 March all alone at night with her tormented thoughts, and the cockroaches that have suddenly started to appear, and strange breathing noises 。 。 。 As she begins to decode her husband’s secrets, her deafening anxiety and fierce determination threaten everyone in her wake—including her stoic housekeeper, Martha, and her unobtrusive son, Jonathan, whom she loves so profoundly, when she remembers to love him at all。

Combining a Hitchcockian sensibility with wickedly dark humor, Virginia Feito, a brilliantly talented and, at times, mischievous newcomer, offers a razor-sharp exploration of the fragility of identity。 A mesmerizing novel of psychological suspense and casebook insecurity turned full-blown neurosis, Mrs。 March will have you second-guessing your own seemingly familiar reflection in the mirror。

I did not enjoy this book。 Mrs。 March is disturbed, I thought it was all leading up to more in the end。 I just didn’t “get it” or enjoy it。

3’5 tiene encanto, vive del cine negro y el personaje recuerda al de loa clásicos pero se hace un poco lento y la trama te deja un poco igual。

This has taken me some time to digest as it was so surprising。Mrs March is not the most likeable character but she is intriguing。 I got definite Mrs Dalloway crossed with Turn of the Screw vibes。 Prim and proper with moments of hysteria。I really wanted to get to the bottom of her character and work her out, but that was clearly never going to happen,i did find it strange that there was no obvious time period setting and whilst it had 50/60s vibes, even the lack of timing made it even more unsett This has taken me some time to digest as it was so surprising。Mrs March is not the most likeable character but she is intriguing。 I got definite Mrs Dalloway crossed with Turn of the Screw vibes。 Prim and proper with moments of hysteria。I really wanted to get to the bottom of her character and work her out, but that was clearly never going to happen,i did find it strange that there was no obvious time period setting and whilst it had 50/60s vibes, even the lack of timing made it even more unsettling。A gripping read, but i'm still left baffled。 。。。more

Entretenido a ratos, desesperante a veces。 Supongo que no me ha llenado porque esperaba mucho más de este libro, pero realmente solo veo un personaje con mucho detalle y poco de todo lo demás que hace falta en un libro。

Although it was interesting to watch Mrs。 March descend into madness, she's such an unlikable character that I couldn't have sympathy for what she was experiencing。 Although it was interesting to watch Mrs。 March descend into madness, she's such an unlikable character that I couldn't have sympathy for what she was experiencing。 。。。more

This book was amazing until the ending where it kind of fell apart。 The wrap up seemed a little like a television series when they find out they've been cancelled, and didn't seem to match the slow build and character development of the first three quarters of the book。 This book was amazing until the ending where it kind of fell apart。 The wrap up seemed a little like a television series when they find out they've been cancelled, and didn't seem to match the slow build and character development of the first three quarters of the book。 。。。more

I really liked this book。 It was very paranoid, she was right to be paranoid, but not quite so paranoid。

Mrs March is a well-written novel。 It is a story of suspicion and paranoia。 The protagonist’s self-doubt and negative thoughts feed on themselves to the point of her completely losing touch with reality。 Her actions become bizarre and result in unforeseen repercussions。 This novel combines dark humour with pathos, resulting in a rich reading experience。 Highly recommended。 Thanks to Virginia Feito, Fourth Estate and NetGalley for the ARC。

This was great - a bit freaky deaky - felt like I was in a spinning room at times。 Monologue style reading which I thoroughly enjoyed especially because you couldn't trust the POV what with Mrs March's spiralling mental state。 This was great - a bit freaky deaky - felt like I was in a spinning room at times。 Monologue style reading which I thoroughly enjoyed especially because you couldn't trust the POV what with Mrs March's spiralling mental state。 。。。more

I have no idea why the first name of Mrs March was not revealed until the last line of the book? Was that to keep me reading until the end just to find out it meant absolutely nothing? Well I feel cheated absolutely!

Very well written but boring。 Too much of Mrs March’s absurd thoughts, which you don’t learn much from them。

Fantastic! This book follows the wife of a famous author who has just written his most successful book。 While at the local baker, the clerk asks if it was true that the book’s main character is based on Mrs。 March。 Knowing that the main character is terrible and unlikeable, something snaps and she begins to think everyone is looking and talking about her。 This was an unsettling book, slow paced but filled with high tension; there’s a building sense of dread that this story is not going to end we Fantastic!
